ACT Leadership

Transforming Lives for Tomorrow

Rossie Cherry

Chief Executive Officer

Rossie D. Cherry, Chief Executive Officer and Co-Founder saw the need for ACT in its first core program, Antelope Valley YouthBuild in 2007, through his lived experiences, personal challenges and the environments he grew up in. For the last 16 years, Mr. Cherry and the ACT team of community based partners, City of Palmdale, faith based partners and community members, have sought to provided quality, direct and supportive services to youth and adults who have challenges and often barriers in facing poverty, are formerly incarcerated, homeless, disabled and more.

Mr. Cherry grew up in Pacoima, California, amidst the challenges that many of his participants face today. The hard lessons of life has taught him that education is needed, but how we attain it and use it can be vital to our ability to relate to others, share our experiences and be impactful for those we serve.

Over the past 16 years he has served as Chair of the Los Angeles Region YouthBuild Collaborative, Secretary of National Directors Association for YouthBuild USA, Fellows of Ca Dept of Education’s Career Technical Ed program, Technical Assistance Coach and Construction Career Pathways Specialist for YouthBuild USA under contract with Department of Labor ETA, and works as a consultant for other organizations and cities with a focus on development and capacity building for grassroots organizations, youth development and working in a transformational way with gangs and formerly incarcerated individuals.
